Coach Deanna has been skipping since the age of 10. Her dream was to launch a competitive jump rope club in Edmonton so that others in her home community could enjoy the sport of Jump Rope.
Deanna has won many Canadian Championship event and overall titles, including being a member of teams that won Overall Canadian Championships from 2016 to 2019. She is pictured above being recognized for her 3rd Place finish in the Grand Championships for the Master's Freestyle event at the 2019 Rope Skipping Canada National Championships.
Deanna completed the Personal Fitness Trainer program at NAIT, and is in her final month of completing a Bachelor of Kinesiology before returning to Edmonton to attend MacEwan University in September 2025. She believes in the benefits of physical literacy and encouraging children and youth to participate in multiple activities. She coined the phrase, "Have fun - jump rope!" as the club's motto.
At the 2021 International Jump Rope Union World Championships, Deanna jumped her way to a top-10 finish in consecutive Triple Unders! She has been named to the Canadian Team for the upcoming 2025 World Championships in Kawasaki, Japan, as well as the International Open Tournament.
In her leisure, Deanna is an active volunteer in the community. She can often be found volunteering at the YMCA, leading workshops or supporting causes within the community. Deanna also competes in the sport of Triathlon and was named to the 2020/2021 Canadian Triathlon Team for the Age Group World Championships!
Coach Denise has been involved in the sport of Jump Rope for over 30 years! A former Canadian Champion, Denise has remained involved as a coach, judge and volunteer.
Denise works within the amateur sport system is an advocate of safe sport, sport for all, and community engagement. She had the fortune of representing Canada as a member of the Canadian Mission Team for three Olympic and two Pan American Games Teams. She was invited to be a Torchbearer for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games for encouraging physical activity for all youth.
Denise has worked with Canadian and World team members in multiple sports to introduce rope skipping as a form of cross-training. She is a strong supporter of Sport for Life, True Sport and inclusion of all who want to jump rope.
Denise believes in supporting grassroots development and helped to found Jump Rope Revolution in manner that this club could assist development of the sport in schools and communities across Alberta. She has served as the Chair of Rope Skipping Alberta and as a Director nationally.
Denise now jumps for fun, accidentally qualifying to represent Canada at the 2025 International Open Tournament.
